Forum:2018 Weird Gloop board elections: call for candidates
My fellow Gloopers,
We're finally at a point where we can start the process of electing the Weird Gloop board of directors. Take a look at Weird Gloop director elections for a full rundown of what's going on, but in short: the company that operates the RuneScape Wikis is meant to be governed by the community of those wikis. While the board has some regular corporate duties, its main (intended) purpose is to be a bridge between the wiki community and the management of the company, and to make sure that the decisions being made by the company are always in the best interest of that community. (In other words, to make sure we don't turn into Wikia).
We want the Weird Gloop board to include capable representatives for the diverse communities we support. Therefore, we are seeking candidates for three open positions each for the RuneScape Wiki and Old School RuneScape Wiki. Please suggest candidates, encourage others to run, and consider volunteering yourself. Although these should not at all be considered requirements, we are especially looking for candidates who:
- Have high integrity, the ability to advocate for a point despite opposition, to resist pressure, think independently and be able to reach consensus;
- Have experience in management, board governance, or otherwise have expertise in a relevant area (product strategy, finance, governance, business);
- Have a track record of leadership, either in the wiki/RuneScape community or elsewhere.
We are also particularly interested in candidates who are not currently administrators on either wiki. Please do not consider adminship as a pre-requisite to joining the board of directors: rather, our view is that the diversity of opinions brought to the table by non-administrators will increase the functioning of the board.
If you are interested in nominating yourself, please follow the instructions on Weird Gloop director elections#Submitting your nomination. Nominations will close on December 7th.
Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions about this process. The community's full participation is going to be crucial to make the board a great representative for everyone. Please get involved! ʞooɔ 12:31, 25 November 2018 (UTC)
